[ USER INTERFACE DESIGN ] Sometime existing software has all the functions but for some reason doesn't feel right. This can often be a problem with the the programs interface. The interface isn't just the "look" of a program or "one of the most important parts" of a program, we believe "it IS the program".

Like all technical production the key to successful Interface Design is to understanding your audience. Theories are plentiful concerning User Interface Design - with plenty of research involving things like retinal responce times to back them up. Most of us outside the realms of the Multi-Naionals dont have the time or budget to get involved with these developments. Luckily the distilled kowledge of these studies is available the benefit of other.

Our take on UI is influenced by the latest UI studies, Common Sence and a liberal dash of well considered window dressing.

The common sense area of UI is basically this - think about your standards and then implement and stick to them. Humans are incredibly adaptable - but lazy. If you put the OK button in the same place every time on a dialogue, they will find it every time after familiarising themselves with the system. Sprinkle it about, and with just one out of thirty dialogues with it out of place, they will be thrown. This is because we are used to reacting to certain situations in a standard way. A good example is the common door. In countries where doors open with a push, people always try to push a door open, even if there is a huge "Pull" sign on the door. This could also be referred to as the "designer tap syndrome".

Our UI experience also allows us to produce rapid prototypes for users to test and evaluate, without going to the expense of actually developing hard code. Because we also understand the development process we can produce prototypes that can be translated into code (e.g. PHP, JSP, ASP etc).

We do not sell ourselves as a user interface company as we do not posses the facilities to undertake extensive testing and metrics. We use our user interface skills to make sure that you get the best results.
